Indian Man Undergoes Rare Surgery as Doctors Remove 29 Spoons and 19 Toothbrushes from His Stomach

A 35 year old man in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, India, has survived a life threatening condition after doctors removed 29 steel spoons, 19 toothbrushes, and two pens from his stomach during an extraordinary surgery.

The man was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital with intense abdominal pain. Scans revealed dozens of objects lodged in his digestive system, leading surgeons to perform a complicated operation that lasted several hours.

Dr. Rakesh Khurana, head of the surgical team, said the case was extremely rare and could have turned fatal if the surgery had been delayed. According to him, the patient had been swallowing the objects over time, a behavior linked to a psychiatric disorder.

Family members disclosed that the man had a history of unusual eating habits but had never confessed to consuming such hazardous items. Doctors confirmed that he is recovering well and will require psychiatric care to address the underlying condition.

Experts described the incident as one of the most striking examples of pica, a disorder that causes individuals to ingest non food items. They stressed the importance of timely medical and psychological support to avoid similar dangers.

The case has captured widespread attention across India, with many stunned by the sheer number of foreign objects discovered inside the patient’s stomach.
