Enugu Government Receives N1.27 Billion Recovered From Sujimoto Firm By EFCC

The Enugu State Government has confirmed the receipt of N1.27 billion recovered from Sujimoto Construction Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.

According to official sources, the funds were recovered following investigations by the EFCC into financial dealings involving the firm. The recovered amount has now been handed over to the Enugu State Government as part of efforts to return public funds to their rightful owners.

State government officials disclosed that the money would be channelled towards critical developmental projects across the state, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare and education. They noted that the recovery would help support ongoing projects and ease financial pressure on the state.

The Enugu State Government commended the EFCC for its diligence and commitment to fighting financial crimes and ensuring accountability. Officials described the recovery as a positive step in strengthening transparency and public trust in governance.

The government also reiterated its zero tolerance for corruption, warning contractors and individuals dealing with the state to adhere strictly to due process and financial regulations.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has assured the public that investigations and recovery of misappropriated public funds would continue, as part of its mandate to combat economic and financial crimes across the country.

The development has been welcomed by residents of Enugu State, many of whom expressed hope that the recovered funds would be judiciously used for the benefit of the people.
