HUNDREDS OF WOMEN PROTEST GANG VIOLENCE IN KANO
Hundreds of women took to the streets of Kano on Saturday in a powerful protest against rising gang violence. The demonstrators, including mothers and wives, carried placards denouncing the brutal attacks by local gangs known as Yandaba or Daba Boys.
The protesters shared harrowing accounts of how these gangs operate openly, killing and maiming innocent residents. "We can't sleep with both eyes closed anymore," one woman said. "At any moment, someone might come running into your house trying to escape these attackers. That's how bad things have become."
Another protester made a desperate plea to authorities: "We need the government and security agencies to completely wipe out these criminals so we can finally have peace in our communities."
While police officials claim they've made progress through arrests and a special task force, residents say the violence continues unchecked. This protest highlights the growing frustration among Kano's women who are bearing the brunt of this insecurity.
The demonstration sends a clear message: Kano's women have had enough and demand immediate action to make their streets safe again.
