Former Enugu State SSG, Prof. Ortuanya, Appointed UNN Vice-Chancellor



The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has announced the appointment of Professor Simon Ortuanya as its new Vice-Chancellor. The former Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG) brings a wealth of experience in academia and public administration to the prestigious role.  

Prof. Ortuanya, a respected scholar and administrator, previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) at UNN before his tenure as SSG under the Enugu State government. His return to the university as its chief executive is expected to usher in a new era of academic excellence and institutional growth.  

The appointment follows a rigorous selection process by the UNN Governing Council. As Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ortuanya will oversee the university's academic, administrative, and financial operations, with a focus on strengthening research, infrastructure, and global partnerships.  

The academic community has welcomed the development, expressing optimism about his leadership. Students and staff anticipate continued progress under his administration, particularly in areas of innovation, staff welfare, and student support systems.
