Flood Submerges Parts of Lagos as Residents Seek Help, Government Issues Apology

Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in several areas of Lagos, submerging homes and displacing residents. Many are calling for urgent assistance as roads have turned into rivers, disrupting daily life.

The Lagos State Government has acknowledged the situation, attributing the flooding to blocked drainage systems and excessive rainfall. Officials have apologized for the inconvenience and promised immediate relief efforts, including drainage clearance and emergency support for affected communities.

Residents in low-lying areas like Ajegunle, Lekki, and Ikeja report significant damage, with some stranded in their homes. Local volunteers and emergency services are working to evacuate those in danger.

Authorities urge citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and dispose of waste properly to prevent further blockages. Long-term solutions, including improved drainage infrastructure, are being discussed to mitigate future flooding.
